I'm going to Jordan on a business trip. Which visa is best for me?

For a business trip to Jordan, the most suitable visa is the eVisa business. However, it is important to understand the different options available in order to choose the one that best suits your situation.

Business visa application procedure

The business visa is specifically designed for people travelling to Jordan as part of their professional activities. It has several advantages over the standard visa. It can be obtained more quickly and avoids the need to go to the embassy. It therefore allows :

  • to stay for a maximum of 30 days
  • 90-day validity
  • 1 or 2 possible inputs

To apply for a business visa for Jordan, you need to prepare a number of documents:

  • Original passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned date of return
  • Completed visa application form

You may be asked to provide a letter of assignment and hotel reservation, but this is not compulsory when applying for an eVisa.

Deadlines

The standard turnaround time for this type of eVisa is 3 days.

Visa validity

The single- or double-entry business visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, with a maximum stay of 30 days.

Additional considerations

Extending your stay

If your business trip is to last longer than initially planned, it is possible to apply for a visa extension from the Jordanian authorities in Jordan. However, it is preferable to anticipate the length of your stay and apply for a suitable visa from the outset.

Authorised activities

With a business visa, you are authorised to :

  • Taking part in business meetings
  • Attend conferences or seminars
  • Negotiating contracts
  • Visiting industrial or commercial sites

It is important to note that the business visa does not allow paid employment in Jordan. For this, a work permit would be required.

Invitation from a Jordanian company

As mentioned above, although not compulsory, a letter of invitation from a Jordanian company can make it easier to obtain a business visa and enter Jordan. This letter should specify the purpose of your visit, the planned dates and the contact details of the host company.
